SAVE Udney Park

The Thamesians committee has written to Richmond Council to OBJECT to the proposed loss of the Local Green Space (LGS) designation for the Udney Park Playing Fields.

Udney Park has a unique and special place within the borough in that it is one of the last remaining areas with substantial playing space - currently nine pitches. Lord Beaverbrook bequethed Udney Park to the community for continued sporting use, in particular rugby. The fields have OOLTI designation and not only meet but exceed the requirements for LGS designation - hence their inclusion in the Richmond Local Plan. Retaining LGS designation for Udney Park will ensure protection of this facility for the community and local sports clubs for generations to come, in a borough which prides itself in sports participation.

Thamesians are one of a number of sports clubs in the borough struggling for fields to train and play on. Currently we are spread over five venues with training at Hampton, Whitton Fields, and St Mary’s, and playing split between Waldegrave School and Marble Hill. Against this backdrop it seemed only right to object to more playing space being eroded by the removal of the existing Local Green Space designation. Please see the flyer for more information should you wish to raise a personal objection: Help us SAVE Udney Park
