The upgrade of the bar area is now complete as you can see from the photos below. The work inside the building has been jointly funded by Thamesians RFC, Twickenham Cricket Club, and TAO, and managed by a Pavilion Committee representing these three stakeholders. Going forward funds have been ring fenced to hopefully ensure that our facilities continue to keep up with the improvements on the pitch. On Saturday 6th October we will be officially re-opening the building so please come along and join us for the occasion. Earlier in the day the 1sts and seconds are both playing at Marble Hill in their respective leagues.
Return to Waldegrave School
The lines have been marked and the posts have gone up this weekend with Thamesians home ground set to transfer to Waldegrave School with a first game on Sunday 14th October. This will be a poignant moment for many Old Thamesians as the club was originally formed by the old boys of Thames Valley Grammar School (which later became Waldegrave School). It is around forty years since the club have played on home turf and the first game back at the school will also mark the first fifteen-a -side game for the girls team. Please be there for this milestone event - kick-off 2 o'clock. As well as the historic synergy it is hoped that a great playing link will develop between club and school. Waldegrave already provides extra curriculum rugby to the boys entering in to its sixth form and our men's team will hope to tap this talent, whilst rugby is a curriculum activity for all ages of girls at the school. For both boys and girls the club hopes to provide coaching support as the relationship develops in the years ahead. Significant improvements are also planned to the playing surface. Exciting times to be a Thamesian.
