A story that one or two of you may have heard on Saturday but have likely since forgotten after a few brews is worth a mention on the forum. I've been absent from the club a fair bit lately since retirement, but with the 6 nations brings friends and rugby fans from afar (Canada), and this year was no exception. I met up with a small touring contingent in the Cabbage patch Friday night, and as you would imagine after a few jars, the conversation turned to rugby and several examples of the individual greatness that happened to be present. To be more specific, it was front row talk and none can be more self-indulgent than a front row forward and the poetic mystery that surrounds their craft............ |

There are moments and events in Thamesians history that live in peoples' minds. The formation of the club. Winning the Bernie Watt Cup. Regaining the Cockerel from the French. And then there's Sunday 15th March........the day John Farrell took it upon himself to take charge of selling food from the BBQ. Behold his command of the English language, his engaging of the customer with an "Ooooiiiiii!!!", his assertion that Stilton is exotic, the cackling laugh and hint of sexual harrassment. There is only one John Farrell. Just as well, really.

Hello Ts,
As a double expatriate from God's country it is a times like these when I feel a pang of regret that I am so far away. What a build up week this could be for English rugby. The war cry from Martin. "Johnson warned Wales that England planned to silence the 74,000 partisan Millennium Stadium crowd by winning ugly if necessary. He also emphasised that defence wins top international rugby games and that England would be ready for the threat of Shane Williams, Lee Byrne and co" All I can say is that I would prevent any minors from watching the match on Saturday as uglier on top of uglier equals........... My fondest regards to all, especially the inevitable characters who will undoubtedly respond LOL Nick White |

It was very much a case of all hands on deck as missing players left the players base desperately short. There were particular issues in the front row and from the outset we doff our collective hats to Messrs Farrell and Chandler for stepping into the breach. Thamesians got off to an inauspicious start and an annoyingly regular theme of poor discipline saw the Mill Hill kicker given the opportunity to get his eye in with two simple early efforts. Then came the frustration of conceding what turned out to be the crucial first try of the game. T's defence has stood them in good stead this season and even the league's high flyers have found it a tough nut to crack. So the disappoint was there for all to see as a gap appeared close to the ruck, which inevitably was too much for the cover defence to close down. However, the Mill Hill kicker was losing his line and the conversion went astray, as did further attempts to cash in on T's indiscipline. |

Another Saturday, another day in the pouring rain but 30 odd blokes were all ready for an exciting game of rugby! Thamesians were led out by the pink tights of Inchy and ready for the top of the table clash. The game started of with Grasshoppers camped in our half although not looking like they were going to cause much damage. With lots of scrummages going to the home team Thamesians looked strong and were with able to withhold the pressure. |
