A friendly game for Thamesians 1st XV this week, following two consecutive walkovers. The lads were desperate for a game and the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) were happy to oblige.
A tight first half saw both teams looking to bring physicality and running rugby to the table. HAC cross the line first after some great build up play, followed by 2 converted tries by T’s showcasing their attacking shape. HAC cross the line late in the first half to make the half time score 14-12 to T’s.
The second half saw T’s bag some early tries and establish a comfortable lead, some really good running rugby on display with the league leaders showing their class. HAC didn’t give up though and in the final quarter of the game they really began to click, scoring some lovely team tries. However, Thamesians substantial lead was too great and they were able to see out the game despite a late come back from HAC.
Final score 45-27 to Thamesians.
Thanks to HAC for giving us a much needed run out and pushing us to the very end.
Special mention to Max for standing in at wing last minute and doing a job.
